[ It's not nearly as sophisticated as it is back home, but there's enough of it to let Hernan know the building is being approached at a high rate of speed. So he slips out to greet Jon and Krypto outside. From what he's gathered in the post, this dog is destructive and Kirk will be mad at him if he lets him in the Tower and he wrecks it.

[ Hernan is thankfully aware that Krypto is prone to bowling over Clark. He's not caught completely off guard when Krypto does not wait and torpedoes into his chest. Hernan braces for impact and laughs when the dog still manages to shove him backward. At least he's amused and not annoyed. ]
